A total of 5,172 examinees will take the civil service sub-professional and professional examinations today in the region, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said.

According to Imelda Bungabong, CSC-Caraga chief personnel specialist, based on the instruction from CSC Central Office, those who wish to take the examination may take it without limitation on the number of times they could take the exam.

Bungabong said the examination is divided into four categories such as verbal ability, analytical ability, numerical ability, and general information.

In an earlier report, CSC-Caraga regional director Adams Torres said three testing centers were established in Caraga Region to spread the number of examinees in the region.

He added examinees in other provinces of the region may take the examination in Caraga’s three key cities in Surigao, Bislig, and in Butuan City.

In Butuan City, Torres said sub-professional testing center had been established in Butuan City School of Arts and Trades (BCSAT), while the professional testing center is located inside the campuses of Caraga State University (CSU) in Barangay Ampayon, as well as in Libertad National High School (LNHS) in Barangay Libertad here.

The CSC has scheduled May 27 and October 21 this year for the nationwide conduct of the career service examination-paper and pencil test for sub-professional and professional levels of eligibility.

Last year, the region had a low number of passers. During the May 22, 2011 exam, 169 examinees passed in the professional level and 23 passed in the sub-professional, and on October 16, 2011 examination schedule, 130 examinees from Caraga region successfully hurdled the exam in the professional level while only 26 passed in the sub-professional level.

However, in the October 17, 2010 professional career examination, Caraga’s Darwin M. Caringal ranked seventh in the top 10 passers, obtaining a rate of 84.56 percent, while the topnotcher came from the National Capital Region (NCR), with an 84.92 percent rate.

Passers of the civil service examinations are qualified for appointment to plantilla positions in the government service. (RER-PIA 13 Caraga)
