The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) here informed 100 women leaders of this municipality about its programs and services during a forum held recently at the Lagawe Central School Conference Hall.
The forum provided an opportunity for the women leaders to increase their understanding, awareness and knowledge on the services, mandates and types of assistance of DOLE. The offshoot of this activity could be a partnership between the women’s organization who are mostly engaged in livelihood activities, said DOLE Ifugao Field Officer Alexander Gumabol.
He told the women that the overarching goal of the present administration towards labor and employment is to invest in the country's top resources, which is “human resource,” to make Filipinos more competitive and employable while promoting industrial peace based on social justice.
The strategic goals of DOLE are a gainfully employed, globally competitive, secured, safe, and healthy workforce, and its program and services include job search assistance for wage employment, capacity building for livelihood, social partnership promotion and dispute resolution to prevent job loss, ensure fair and just terms and conditions of employment, social protection and welfare program and occupational safety and health program, he explained.
He enjoined the women leaders to become partners with DOLE in improving their livelihood opportunities. (JDP/DBC-PIA Ifugao)
