A 30-year old resident of Virac has been meted a penalty of six years imprisonment, avoiding heavier punishment after the Regional Trial Court approved a plea bargaining agreement.

RTC Branch 42 Presiding Judge Genie G. Gapas-Agbada ordered Patrick John Magdaraog Arcilla of Gogon Centro to a jail term of two to three years and to pay a fine of P10,000 for illegally selling 0.20 gram of shabu to a police operative.

He was meted an additional two years in jail plus P10,000 fine for illegal possession of 1.236 grams of the same drug.

The Court also ordered the accused to undergo six months of rehabilitation at the Malinao Treatment and Rehabilitation Center.

Twin cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 were filed against Arcilla after he was caught in the act of selling shabu in a buy-bust operation by the Virac police station in Aug. 21, 2018.

He had sold two small sachets of the illegal drug worth P500 to a poseur-buyer at 3:21 A.M. that day at barangay Ibong Sapa. The police also recovered from him five more sachets of shabu and nearly P15,000 in cash.
